The LS-3 combines superior-quality 96 kHz/24-bit linear PCM recording capability with compact size. Featuring TRESMIC 3-microphone system and new Codec playback engine as well as dual-step low-cut filters, the LS-3 is the ideal choice when you want full-fledged recording performance in a pocketable compact body.
The newly developed TRESMIC 3-microphone system was specially designed to record a wide range of frequency bandwidths in high quality. This system features an omnidirectional center microphone to enhance low frequencies, as well as two high-performance directional stereo microphones. While the recording frequency with the center microphone OFF is 70 to 20,000 Hz, turning ON all three TRESMIC system microphones (including the center microphone) achieves a flat recording frequency response from 20 to 20,000 Hz, making it possible to record more natural, closer-to-reality sound with a fuller bass sound. The center microphone can be switched on/off according to the recording location or conditions
Audio recording level can be adjusted either automatically or manually. To ensure optimum recording quality with manual adjustment, a built-in limiter is provided to suppress sound distortion, operating whenever the volume of input sound is too high. There's also a compressor to compress the sound while maintaining the overall balance.
The LS-3 incorporates the ultra-low-power hi-fi Codec, the latest audio engine for portable devices from Wolfson Microelectronics, a world leader in high-end audio technology. This advanced new technology dramatically enhances audio reproduction from small speakers, as well as facilitating high-fidelity recording and playback across a broader frequency spectrum. Retune technology is also incorporated to flatten the frequency response.
When the Pre-Recording function is set to ON, up to 2 seconds of audio is continuously saved in memory. As a result, whenever you press the REC button, the recording actually starts from 2 seconds before you press the button. That means you'll never miss the sound you want to capture.
